DESIGN AND EXPERIMENTATION CENTRE FOR THE STUDY OF CARBON FIBRE

GALILEO is MAE’s design and experimentation centre, hosting Italy’s first demonstrative facility for the production of high-performance Carbon Fiber. This facility is the result of a strategic collaboration with Leonardo S.p.A., CNR, and the financial support of Invitalia and other national companies in the field of composite materials.

The facility is an integral part of the “L.A.M.P.O.” project (Leonardo Automated Manufacturing Process for cOmposites) for the aerospace sector, with the goal of simplifying the production process and reducing costs through automated defect detection and correction during the production of polymer and carbon fiber-based composite materials.

MAE has developed chemically optimized recipes tailored to the needs of Leonardo S.p.A., ensuring advanced performance in the aerospace sector. Furthermore, MAE has designed a system that recovers 99.5% of the solvents used, contributing to the promotion of efficiency, quality, and the development of highly specialized skills in the aerospace industry.

In GALILEO, MAE contributes to the development of strategic sectors in the automotive and aerospace industries.
